Thank goodness lockdown is over and we can get back to our favourite pub! Lovely staff, great food and beer and very reasonable prices. My friend and I visited The Bee today with her 2. We had a very enjoyable lunch and my friend's son was well impressed as he was givean a piece of pottery to paint, which he thoroughly enjoyed and what a nice touch! My friend and I were finlly able to relax and talk whilst her son was happily painting. We have booked for sunday lunch and hope this will also be a pleasant experienc.
We have eaten at the Bee a few times in the past, and we held my husbands 60th birthday party here a couple of years back which was most successful. So we decided to give it a try for Sunday lunch as a treat. Sadly it turned out to be nothing of the kind. Firstly I must say that there are efficient Covid procedures in place which is reassuring.
My husband had a starter, poor quality pate, with very dry sliced bread. Surely a sliced baguette would have been better? The roast potatoes tasted very odd, the Yorkshire pudding was cold, the veg was badly cooked and the meat was dry, probably reheated.
The waitress service was good, but we could hear the kitchen repeatedly calling for food to be taken out which may explain the lukewarm food. Good day thank you for your comment we have implemented change you advised thank you for your feed back please do contact me to arrange a Comp meal to show you the quality change best regards the bee family. We loved it here. Lovely food and very personable service. Would recommend and will visit again. Thank you very much.
Booked a last minute table for an early evening meal but went downhill from then. On arrival they had no record of our booking despite speaking to Adam just an hour before. Being told there was a delivery of ales due in a few days does not help. Next came the food: we both chose prawn cocktail which although fairly tasty came with no bread and butter.
My main course of sausage and mash was barely warm enough but otherwise tasted good. Great shame, this used to be a really nice pub but we certainly will not be going back.
