There is no absolute answer. The main difference between SRTM and ASTER GDEM is the mesh size since SRTM is generally available with a 90 m mesh, but the mesh size is not the resolution ASTER GDEM coverage spans from 83 degrees north latitude to 83 degrees south, encompassing 99 percent of Earth's landmass. The improved GDEM V3 adds additional stereo-pairs, improving coverage and reducing the occurrence of artifacts. The refined production algorithm provides improved spatial resolution, increased horizontal and vertical accuracy GDEM. However, both SRTM and PRISM have data voids, so are not always available for comparison with the input GDEM.
